Some Information about Chardonnay Grapes and Winemaking

When it comes to winemaking, there are choices to be made but one of the most essential choices is the choice of the grape that is to be used in the process. If you’re making your first attempt at brewing your own wine then you should think about using white Chardonnay grapes. People may not be familiar with wine terminology but they’ll have heard about Chardonnay one way or the other. In the United States the Chardonnay grape is grown mostly in California and 50% of the grapes grown in California are of this variety. The Chardonnay became the most popular grape in California vineyards because of its fame among winemakers and its cultivation has spread beyond California and over to areas like Washington, Oregon, Long Island and the Niagara Peninsula as well. Although this grape has its failings it tends to be sturdier that most other varieties.
